Rising climate risks are not driving U.S. firms to reduce emissions, but instead are pushing them to reallocate resources and capital toward short-term measures like adaptation and political lobbying that they believe will reduce immediate cost and physical risk threats.

Ironically, however, this approach only worsens companies' long-term exposure, according to researchers.
